99.5% OF TRANSIT UNION WORKERS AUTHORIZE STRIKE

WHAT IS HAPPENING?

Keolis, a French multinational company that is known to be anti-union, was awarded a contract by the CapMetro Board to run buses beginning in 2024 despite Union opposition.

After months of unfruitful negotiations with Keolis, Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1091 (ATU 1091) has voted to go on strike if conditions are not met.

A strike would shut down virtually all public bus service citywide.

WHAT IS ATU 1091 ASKING FOR?

  1. Drivers, mechanics and support staff are asking for an increase in wages and retirement.
    Many cannot afford to live in the city they serve.
  2. Shortening of split shifts, so drivers aren’t away from home for 13 hours and only paid 8.
  3. Tool and equipment allowances for mechanics so they can keep our buses safe and running.
  4. Give UT shuttle bus drivers full benefits.
    They are currently not getting sick pay and other benefits even when working full time!
